Eleuterio J. Ruiz, Sr. aka Big John, 69, passed away March 16, 2017. He was born on August 16, 1947 to Eleuterio G. & Maria Eva Ruiz in Laredo, Texas. He was raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. He served in the US Army from November 1967- June 1969, his rank and awards included HHB 1st BN 44th, GCMDL, VCM, PH, EXP-M16 and 2-O/S Bars Purple Heart Vietnam Veteran. He will always be remembered for his sharp wit, his larger than life presence and his ability to fill a room with laughter with his quick punch lines. He was able to hold people on the edge of their seats. His charm was unmatched. He was a very generous man that loved his mother and his children.
Eleuterio is preceded in death by parents, Eleuterio G. Ruiz & Maria Eva Ruiz; Elvia H. Ruiz wife and mother of Karen, Jason and Ryan. He is survived by his children, Eleuterio J. Ruiz, Jr., Karen J. Ruiz, Jason E. (Dolores) Ruiz, Ryan C. (Amanda) Ruiz, Elizabeth S. Walters of California and John E. Ricalday; grandchildren, Eva Contreras, Mark Contreras, Juan Martinez, Jaren Martinez, Zeda Ruiz, Ziah Ruiz, John Ruiz III, Catarina B. Ruiz, Jason Ruiz, Jr., Jaxon Ruiz, Elvia Ruiz, Olivia Ruiz, Ryan Ruiz, Jr., and Roman Ruiz; siblings, Edna (Sam) Huggins of Little Rock, Arkansas and Linda (Gerald) Bridges of Oklahoma and mother of Eleuterio J. Ruiz, Jr., Rosalinda Perez Jones.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Seaside Reid Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Seaside Reid Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
