Willie Ella Johnson

Willie Ella Johnson was born June 25, 1926 Luling, Texas to Willie Duke and Essie Marie Marshall. She grew up with three siblings.

She worked at Luby’s as a pastry chef for over 27 years.

She married Jesse L. Johnson and they moved from Luling to San Antonio to Corpus Christi. To this union three children were born: Jesse, Jackie and Willie Joe.

Willie Ella Johnson made a peaceful departure from life on Monday, March 13, 2023 at home with those who loved her. She is preceded in death by Oliver Charles, Jesse Johnson and Austin Sams, her parents, her sisters Rose Marie and Bernice, brother William Duke Jr., and granddaughter Jo.

She leaves to honor and cherish her memory her children: Jesse (Vivian) Chicago, IL; Jackie, Willie Joe; her granddaughter Jessica (Chris); her great grandchildren - Jackson & Gabriella and a host of relatives, neighbors and friends.

Special thanks are extended to her nephew Oliver Duke (Nickie) and Kimberly Hayes who came and stayed with her until the end.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 30, 2023 from 6:00 - 8:00 pm at Seaside Reid Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at Seaside Reid Chapel on Friday, March 31, 2023 at 10:00 am. An entombment to follow immediately after.
