Heaven gained a gem of a gentleman when William Harold "Bill" Mellberg died on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, in Corpus Christi, TX. Bill was born in New Rockford, North Dakota, on July 1, 1931, to Arthur and Lillian Mellberg. He served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army during the Korean War, and married the late Marlene Patricia Dahl in Rugby, N.D., in 1952. He was a Master Mason for more than 58 years and a charter member of Al Amin where he was a Shriner for over 50 years. Many happy customers knew Bill, for he was their jeweler at Taylor Bros. Jewelers in Corpus Christi for over 35 years and upon "retirement," served as a jeweler for several other local businesses. He also was a long-time member of First United Methodist Church in Corpus Christi. Bill is survived by his son David of Phoenix, AZ, and daughters Rebecca of Corpus Christi, and Barbara and Susan, both of San Antonio; a host of grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 3, 2018 at First United Methodist Church, 900 S. Shoreline Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. Donations in his honor may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children in Houston and the Shriners Burn Unit in Galveston.
