Viola Godoy

Viola Contreras Godoy, age 82, graced the Heavens and joined our Divine Heavenly Father on Monday, November 29, 2021 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Ricardo Alonzo Godoy, sons, Ricardo and Marco Godoy, grandchildren, Angellysse and Ashton Godoy. She left us peacefully in the comfort and sanctity of her home surrounded by family.
Viola is preceded in death by Manuel Contreras, her brother, Guadalupe Aguirre, her sister, and Manuel and Hilda Contreras, her parents.
Viola Contreras Godoy was born on June 7, 1939, in Corpus Christi, Texas to Manuel and Hilda Contreras. A lifelong teacher, she taught primary education for 25 years at George Evans elementary school and cherished her time as an educator.
Aside from spending time with her family, Viola discovered her passion for traveling with Ricardo. Together they summered in San Miguel Allende, Mexico.
Viola particularly loved spending time cooking, baking, and sewing while doting on her husband, sons, and grandchildren. Family and friends admired her bright personality, great sense of humor, and her eye for fashion and style. She often wore statement necklaces that she proudly adorned for special occasions. Viola will be missed by the lives she touched: nieces, nephews, students, neighbors, but none so much as her husband, sons, and grandchildren who will always remember her beautiful smile and spirit. She is now at peace and will be loved and honored always.
Family, friends, and other loved ones are invited to attend a rosary service on Sunday, 7:00 PM at Reid Chapel in Seaside Memorial Park, Corpus Christi, Texas 78412. A funeral mass will be on Monday, December 6, 2021, at 11:30 AM at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3502 Saratoga Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas 78415 with Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers will be Eddie Aleman, Leon Contreras, Ashton Godoy, Ernie Godoy, Daniel Urbina and Gabriel Urbina.
