Tomas “Tonka” Velasquez, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Tonka was born June 23, 1945 to Lazaro Velasquez and Petra Garcia. Tonka was loved by many friends, fans and his loving family. Tonka was a true people person with a very big heart. Tonka will be missed very much.
Tonka is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Velasquez; his children, son Tommy (Crissy) Velasquez, Melissa Velasquez (Bobby), Betty (Steven) Landon, Virginia Velasquez (Randy) all of Corpus Christi, Texas; Tonka had many grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 2, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
