Sylvia G. Valdez

Sylvia Garcia Valdez was born February 7,1947, in Falfurrias, Texas to Jesus Garcia Ramos and Tomasita Chavana. She passed away on September 13, 2023, at the age of 76. 

Sylvia was one of 7 children and was close to all of her 6 brothers.  Family was always very important, and the doors to her home were open to one and all. 

Sylvia is preceded in death by the love of her life, Claudio S. Valdez Jr, her parents Jesus G. Ramos and Tomasita Chavana, her brothers Jesse, Alarico, and Hector Garcia Ramos.

She is survived by her children, Velma V. White (Robert), Diana V. Smith (David), and Claudio G. Valdez III (Laura). Her brothers Alejo, Reynaldo, and Omer Garcia Ramos. She has 11 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. 

Sylvia had a great love of gardening and it was evident if you ever visited her home. She spent countless hours in her garden daily and was very proud of the diverse plants and flowers growing in her gardens. She was loved by all who met her and established great friendships over the years.

The visitation and viewing for Sylvia will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.  Services will conclude that evening.
