Sofia Moreno Martinez

Sofia Moreno Martinez passed away on September 23, 2023 at  82 years of age. She was born on February 5, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Sofia attended Molina Jr High but now is called West Oso Jr High School. She was employed by Kress downtown as a cook and was employed in the HealthCare industry for many years as well. She did volunteer in the 70's at Southgate Elementary and ran the meetings at Navarro Housing projects with Ms. Curiel.

Sofia loved gathering with her family and friends. She enjoyed cooking for everyone especially during the holidays making her tamales and pan de polvo, dancing with her husband Roberto Silvas Martinez Sr. when he was alive and attending his band performance with Tony Dela Rosa and other bands he played in and listening to music and singing Karaoke with her sisters Dolores, Esperanza, Lamar and recently deceased brother Vicente Moreno.

Sofia was a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.  She will always be remembered by her smile, kisses and hugs that she always gave to everyone she knew when they arrived at her home and left her home. She was a true inspiration, living her life with passion and a genuine love for the things that brought her joy which was being around family. Her love for life and her infectious spirit will forever be touched in everyone's hearts. Rest in peace, dear Sofia. Thank you for the love, laughter, and joy you brought into our lives. We will forever cherish the memories we made."

Sofia is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years of marriage to Roberto Silvas Martinez Sr.: Parents, Eugenio and Sofia C Moreno; brothers, Valentino C Moreno, Eugenio Moreno, Vicente Moreno, and sister Josephine Solis. 

Survivors include two sons, Roberto Silvas Martinez Jr, Trino Martinez(Deidra) and two daughters, Esperanza Martinez and Esmeralda Guerrero(Edward) of Corpus Christi, Tx; grandchildren, Jaime(Liz) Garza, Elijio Garza, Jacob (Jennifer) Garza, Jeremy (Monique) Garza, Edward Jr Guerrero, Amaris Martinez, Jordan Martinez and Roslyn Martinez, great grandchildren, Alejandra, Jeremiah, Violet, Lelani, Alonzo and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
