Obituary

SanJuanita “Janie” Perez Rocha, age 72, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2022. She was born on June 24, 1949, to Pedro and Trinidad Perez. She was born & raised in Raymondville, TX where she graduated. After graduating High School, she moved to Corpus Christi, TX where she met her husband, Amado E. Rocha, and they started their journey of life together.
While Janie’s kids were growing up, she was an at home childcare provider for numerous kids in Flour Bluff area. She also worked at Driscoll Children’s Hospital in the 1980s & 90’s, and then Christus Spohn Hospital for nearly 25 years, where she retired in 2012.
Janie enjoyed “Doing for Other’s” as she would say. She enjoyed every minute with her family, barbequing, family gatherings, traveling, shopping, and watching movies. She had a special bond with each grandchild which they will hold close to their hearts. Janie was an active parishioner at St. Paul’s The Apostle Catholic Church in Flour Bluff for many years. She taught her kid’s & grandkid’s the importance of having Faith & Believing in GOD.
She will always be remembered for her laughter, service in the community and devotion to her family and friends. Most importantly her husband, children and grandchildren. They were her greatest & proudest gifts. She was “Mom” to many, but “GRANDMA JANIE”, and “JANIE” to our extended family and friends that Loved her very much.
Janie was a loving, kindhearted, caring wife, mother, grandma, sister, Tia, aunt and best friend to many people that she crossed path’s with throughout her life. She always shared her caring spirit with whoever needed it and treated everyone with Love & Compassion.
Janie will be preceded in death by her parents, Pedro and Trinidad Perez, and by her brothers, George, Jose “Pato” and Rene Perez and one sister: Rosalinda Helen Perez.
Janie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Amado Everett Rocha and two children: Pete (Santos) Rocha Sr. and Elisa (Jose Cardenas) Hoover all of Corpus Christi, TX. She is survived by seven grandchildren: Pete Rocha Jr., Reese Rocha, Austin Hoover, Casey Hoover, Corey Rice, Ashley Cardenas and Yliana Cardenas and one great-grandchild: Kaleb Schleif. Two brothers, Israel Perez of Mobile, AL; Ignacio (Dora) Perez of Sabastian, TX. Three sisters; Eduvina Longoria of San Perlita, TX, Maria Martinez, of Mercedes, TX, Ester Perez of Raymondville, TX and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm to 9:00pm on June 20, 2022, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home 2409 Baldwin, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00am on June 21, 2022, at St. Paul’s The Apostle Catholic Church 2233 Waldron Rd. Corpus Christi, TX 78418. Reception to follow at St. Paul’s The Apostle Catholic Church’s Parish Hall.
Having the Distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Pete Rocha Jr., Austin Hoover, Corey Rice, LeeRoy Gonzales Jr., Greg Hidalgo, Ramiro Banda III. Honorary is Yliana Cardenas.
We would like to especially thank Maria Martinez, Aide Hernandez, and Dolores Rocha for caring and loving our Mother and being by our side.
