Ruben C. Gonzales, 90, entered eternal rest February 14, 2021. Ruben was born on July 27, 1930 to Estanislao and Amalia Gonzales. He worked hard at a young age in the fields helping to support his family, but ultimately his life and passion became working as a Shrimper in the Corpus Christi bay. He loved his days as a Shrimper, spending time at the L-Head Bait Stand, and telling numerous stories of his shrimping experiences that will never be forgotten. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his family. Ruben would say that his daughters were his greatest accomplishments which led to his wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren whom he dearly loved.
He will be remembered foremost for his love and devotion to prayer for his wife and family, giving his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren better opportunities in life than he had as a child, and that he did! He was strong but had a quiet nature about him with a caring, giving, humble, and compassionate heart never holding a grudge or resentment, and always trusting in others.
Ruben is proceeded in death by his parents, Estanislao and Amalia Gonzales; his siblings, Gilberto, Arsenio, Lydia, Rudy, Ramiro, and Margarita.
Ruben is survived by his loving wife, Delia Chapa Gonzales; daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Solomon Banda and Cynthia and Karl Kosier; grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Krystal, Klint & Amber; great-grandchildren, Bastien, Isabella, Kenedi, Kari, Kaylee, and Kade. He is also survived by sisters, Amelia Chapa and Oralia Amador as well as many nephews and nieces.
