Placido Vela Cuellar

Placido Vela Cuellar, age 69, was called home to the gates of heaven on March 25, 2021 in the peace of his own home. He was born on September 10, 1951 in Corpus Christi Texas, to his loving parents, Maria Cuellar and Placido Cuellar. He then went on to reach the 10th grade at Kress High School and soon became a loving husband to his wife Aurora Luna Cuellar. Placido was married to his soulmate, Aurora Luna Cuellar for 49 years. He was employed with Doss Aviation at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, where he retired after 25 years. His hobbies included being an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, fishing, carpentry, enjoying watching sports events, but his favorite hobby of all time was being a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He will be greatly missed, but he is now reunited with the love of his life Aurora Luna Cuellar. He has met again with his mother and father, Maria Vela Cuellar and Placido Cuellar, as well as his many siblings, Mary Esther DeLapaz, Rosa Aguirre, Virginia Rosales, and Dolores Marquez. Along with his siblings, he is now welcomed home by his son, Placido Luna Cuellar lll. Placido is survived by his three children, Christina Gonzalez (Pedro Gonzalez), Michael Cuellar, and Anthony Cuellar. He leaves behind his sister, Carmen Rivera and two grandchildren, Sarah Gonzalez and Samantha Gonzalez. Placido Vela Cuellar will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Mr. Cuellar has left this world and has been reunited with his one and only true love. After four months of grief he has finally earned his wings and can now be in peace. He will be remembered for being the best son, father, uncle, friend, popo, and husband. His ability to care for others was remarkable and will forever be appreciated by all who loved him.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Holy Rosary to be held at 7:00 PM that same evening. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM, Friday, April 2, 2021 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
