Petra G. Rodriguez of Corpus Christi, Texas, age 99, has gone home to join her viejito in Heaven on May 18, 2017. She was born on February 29, 1918 to the late Jose Garza and Martina Barerra. She will always be remembered for her love and laughter, quiet nature, her welcoming heart, and her devotion to family.

Her biggest enjoyment were family gatherings, her evenings playing 31 and her Sunday Loteria with as many as she could gather to play.

Petra is preceded in death by loving husband, Erasmo Rodriguez, and her son, Abel (Late Delia) Rodriguez Sr.

Lovingly survived by her children: Martina Shepherd, Victoria (Late Richard) Villarreal, Erasmo Rodriguez Jr., Jesusa (Late Alex) Guzman, Aurora (Antonio) Lopez, Guadalupe (Jose) Cepeda, Raymond (Stephanie) Rodriguez, Maria (Antonio) De La Garza, Arnold Rodriguez, Daniel (Rita) Rodriguez, Anthony Rodriguez, all of Corpus Christi, TX and Alicia (Robert) Raya of Phoenix, AZ; 32 grandchildren, 76 great-grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 22, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass to be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Our Lady of Pilar, 1101 Bloomington St. Corpus Christi, at 12:00 noon.

Burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are: Ronald Andrew Guzman, Mario Antonio Lopez, Tony De La Garza Jr., Daniel Rodriguez, Jr., Anthony Rodriguez Jr., and Abel Rodriguez, Jr.

1 Thessalonians 4:17-18

17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
