Obituary

Reverend Moises Vasquez Gonzales, age 83, peacefully and quietly passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2022.  He was born January 13, 1939 to Luciano Gonzales and Rosa Vasquez Diaz.  He will be a lasting memory in the hearts of all whose lives he touched.

Reverend Gonzales came to know the Lord February 28, 1980 at Primera Iglesia Bautista in Flour Bluff, Texas.  There he served as Deacon and together with his supportive wife, Virginia Gonzales, they served as Youth Counselors.  He later studied at Corpus Christi State University thru Howard Payne University in preparation for his Pastorate.  He was a licensed ordained minister through the Baptist General Convention of Texas for 38 years. Reverend Gonzales served in several churches and missions in the South Texas area ranging from Pettus, Texas to San Benito, Texas.  Serving together as a family, as the children moved on Reverend Gonzales and his wife served as house parents for the South Texas Children’s Home in Mineral, Texas.

Reverend Gonzales was a devoted Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Grandfather and Great Grandfather, Brother in Christ and eternal friend.  Thru his exemplary example we learned to serve others, devote ourselves to God and love one another unconditionally! Reverend Gonzales will forever be remembered for his vibrant personality and loving concern when talking to others about Jesus. Bringing joy to the lives of those he encountered was a daily ritual; creating smiles and offering hope of eternal life was his life-long mission.  His jokes were always a great way to break the ice and served to bring a heartfelt chuckle and a huge smile.  His presence was seldom forgotten through his sense of compassion and understanding. Every life touched by his selfless life example will have an enduring story to share. Blessed was this world because He was in it!
