Mitchell Poe Jr.

Mitchell Poe, Jr., age 67, passed away April 28, 2022. He was born May 3, 1954 to Mr. Mitchell Poe, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Poe in Mobile, Alabama. He graduated Mattie T. Blount High School in 1972. He then enlisted in the US Coast Guard and served during the Vietnam War. Mitchell was employed by the Corpus Christi Fire Department for 35 years. He enjoyed playing cards, watching TV, outdoor barbecuing, riding bikes, playing chess, checker and backgammon. He will always be remembered for his devotion to his family and his infectious smile. He was a loving husband and father.
Mitchell is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Mitchell Poe, Sr. and Mrs. Bessie Poe and by brothers Curtis and Ronald Poe of Mobile, Alabama; Anthony Leon Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia.
Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Carolyn Poe and his doting sons, Mason and Kevin Poe, his siblings, Cynthia Poe, Deborah Poe and Terry (Rose) Poe.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 8:15 AM, Friday, May 6, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are: Kevin Poe, Mason Poe, Jaime Barrera, Luis Granado, John Hollowell and Earl Davis. Honorary pallbearers is Bobby Cage, Robert Pena, Rodolfo Davila, Lee Rogers and Constantino Perez.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Christus Spohn Hospital, Corpus Christi, Tx. Shoreline Emergency Department and Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
