Mary A Luna

Mary Alvarez Luna, 87, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2021. Mary was born in Corpus Christi on June 25, 1934 to Mary Arnold Alvarez ad Ramiro Alvarez. She married Louis S. Luna in 1952 and began a full life as a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister and aunt.  Mary was a strong, hard-working, and loving soul. In addition to being a devoted mother of 8, she also worked full-time jobs for many years, including babysitting out of her own home. It was also out of her own home that she graciously nursed back to health many family members, including her mother, mother-in-law and several of her siblings. As she became a senior, she too began to struggle with her own debilitating illnesses and was fortunate enough to be blessed by the care of three loving and caring women: Lupe Luna (her beloved former daughter-in-law) Maria Rodriguez, and Sarah Quijano. In her free time, Mary enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, and cards, but above all she most enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents Mary Arnold Alvarez and Ramiro Alvarez, her husband Louis S. Luna, her beloved son Robert Luna, and her siblings Gilbert Alvarez, Henry Alvarez, Albert Alvarez, Raymond Alvarez Jr., Minnie Garcia, Francis Canales, Virgie Gutierrez, Nora Aguilar, Simon Alvarez and grandson, Justin Luna.
She is survived by her children David Luna (Vicky), Maureen Solis (Dan), Jesse Alvarez, Charles Luna (Norma), Monica Studer (Albert), Emma Sakers (Mike), Gilbert Luna (Sylvia), Sandra Luna (daughter-in-law) and her sisters Mary Stanley, Minnie Pena, and Benicia Quintanilla. Mary was always proud and boastful of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed by all who were lucky enough to know her.
Visitation will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin Blvd in Corpus Christi on Friday, August 6, 2021 from 5-9pm with Rosary beginning at 7pm. Funeral services will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, on Saturday, August 7, 2021, at 10am. She will be laid to rest at Seaside Memorial Park, 4357 Ocean Drive at 11:30am.
