Maria Dolores Serna

Maria Dolores Serna was called to be with her Heavenly Father on June 2, 2018 at the age of 68. She was born on November 15, 1949 in Laredo, Texas to Gilberto and Maria DeLeon. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1969 and married her high school sweetheart, Antonio V. Serna on September 19, 1970 with whom she shared a life with for 47 years. In 1972, she and her husband welcomed their daughter, Debra Ann and later their son, Antonio Jr. In 1976.

Maria Dolores was a proud wife, mother, grandmother to 5 beautiful grandchildren and great-grandmother to 2 great grandchildren. She was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader and loved to watch them all compete in various sporting events and cheer competitions. Her heart belonged to her grandson’s baseball team, The Diablos, whom she would go out and support at every tournament in the South Texas heat.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Gilberto DeLeon Sr. and Maria C. DeLeon; her sister Alicia DeLeon and brother-in-law, Ricardo Salcido.

She is survived by her husband Antonio V. Serna Sr., daughter Debra Ann Garcia (Armando), son Antonio Serna Jr. (Guadalupe Elizabeth), grandsons Antonio Serna III and Joshuah Pablo Garcia; granddaughters Norah Bella and Mayah Alexa Garcia and Crystal Floyd (Aaron); great-grandchildren Ava and Austin Floyd; her sisters Yolanda Salcido, Elisa Trevino (Tommy) and her brother Gilberto DeLeon Jr. (Yolanda) and many nieces and nephews. She lived a long, beautiful life and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M., Tuesday, June 5, 2016 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00A.M., Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
