Maria Romelia Marroquin

June 30, 1949 ~ July 25, 2020 (age 71) 71 Years Old

Obituary

Maria Romelia Marroquin returned to our Heavenly Father on July 25, 2020 at the age of 71. Romelia was born in Comales, Tamaulipas, Mexico on June 30, 1949 to Roberto Maldonado and Teresa DeLaCerda. Romelia was truly the personification of love; she cherished her parents and siblings, Joel, Felix and Nelly, her entire life. As a young woman, she worked as a nurse in her hometown. She loved all who surrounded her and it showed in her role as a caregiver and health worker. She and the love of her life, Jose R. Marroquin, Sr., married on July 3, 1971. They started their little family in Dallas, Texas. She and her husband dedicated themselves to making the best possible life for their children. In 1981, the family moved Corpus Christi, Texas where they opened their small business and formed many wonderful friendships.
Romelia was one of those rare souls who was instantly loved by everyone she met. Her kindness and love for people were matched only by her devotion to God. She is described by her family and friends as a kind soul who saw only the good in people. The center of her universe was her family. She was always by her husband’s side in every endeavor and she was her children’s biggest fan. Romelia had three children: Hector, Velia and Joe; however all her nephews and nieces saw her as a mother figure. The love she had for her siblings was so great that it reflected onto their children. She was not one to diminish her demonstrations of love and this was especially true when it came to her only grandchild, Cuauhtemoc.
All will miss her dearly, but she leaves a legacy built by love. By honoring her legacy of love, we will keep her memory alive.
Romelia was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Cristina Marroquin; mother, Teresa DeLaCerda; and father, Roberto Maldonado.
She is survived by her husband Jose; sons, Hector and Joe (Margo); daughter Velia (Porfirio); grandson Cuauhtemoc; brothers, Joel and Felix; sister Nelly; and nephews and nieces.
