Maria Sosa Gutierrez

Maria S. Gutierrez, age 90, passed away on April 30, 2021 in Austin, Texas.
Mary was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on November 30, 1930. She was raised by her aunt Felipa Flores, and lived in Corpus her entire life.
She graduated from Corpus Christi High School in 1949. Mary worked in the family grocery store as a young girl and later served as a teacher’s aide at Lamar Elementary School.
Her grandchildren lovingly named her “Baba,” and it quickly became her nickname to many family & friends.
Mary loved to travel, having visited locations in Mexico, Hawaii, Europe, and many places across the United States.
She also enjoyed the art of crochet, and was well known for her amazing, colorful creations.
She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and often watched along with her grandsons while talking on the phone.
She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, especially her sons Aaron & Adolph and many other family, friends, and neighbors. 
Mary was surrounded by her family as she passed.
She was preceded in death by her husband Adolfo Gutierrez, sons Aaron and Adolph Rodriguez, and sister Esmeralda Cruz.
Mary is survived by her son Adrian Gutierrez (Cecilia), grandsons Diego, Christian, and Teodoro Gutierrez of Austin, nephew Fred Flores (Alice) of Corona,CA, niece Nettie Flores of Corpus Christi, and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 7:00-9:00 pm on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that evening.
A funeral service will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home on May 8, 2021 at 2:00 pm. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are: Adrian Gutierrez, Diego Gutierez, Christian Gutierrez, Fred Flores, Hale Scott, and Rafael Murray.
