Maria Galvan

Maria Galvan, 88, of Corpus Christi, passed away Tuesday morning, June 16, 2020. Maria, known as Mariana to her family since childhood, was born in Taylor, Texas, on June 1, 1932. Mrs. Galvan is survived by her sister, Damiana Franco, her 5 nieces and nephew, as well grandnieces and grandnephews, and step-children. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gerardo and Juana Loredo and her maternal grandparents, Teofilo and Sabina Olivares Rangel, who raised her and her siblings after the early death of their parents, and her brothers, Secundino and Jose Loredo. Maria is also preceded in death by her first husband, Fidel Flores and her second husband, Alejandro Galvan.
Maria had worked as a babysitter and housekeeper up until the death of her first husband in 1973. She was an independent, self-reliant , self-less individual and a loyal and faithful parishioner of The Holy Family Catholic Church. She loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and faithfully followed the Golden Rule, Maria was a loving and compassionate person and a friend to all. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and her family. Maria never learned to drive, so she would either walk with the use of a cane to her destinations or take the bus. Maria is and will be continued to be missed by all who loved her and called her Tía and friend. Maria’s life is best represented in 2 Timothy 4:7 “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m, on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
