Margarita Bazan Lopez, 79, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, in Corpus Christi, Texas. She was born on July 1, 1938, to Guadalupe Bazan and Ciria Martinez Bazan in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Margarita retired from Corpus Christi Army Depot in July of 1994.
Prior to becoming ill, Margarita enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, baking, quilting, sewing, crocheting and gardening.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ventura Lopez, Sr.; son, Benny Lopez, daughter, Esmeralda Amaya (Jimmy), son, Ventura Lopez, Jr. (Petra); grandchildren, Benny Lopez, Jr., Lisa Valdez (Anthony), Michael Lopez, Aimee Amaya, Sofia Lopez, Lukas Lopez, Javier Montoya; five great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Leticia Lopez; sister-in-law, Elvira Bazan, a nephew and four nieces.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Guadalupe Bazan and Ciria Martinez Bazan, as well as her brother, Guadalupe Bazan, Jr.
The family would like to thank Dr. Steven Nowotny and the entire nursing staff at Wooldridge Place Nursing Center for the wonderful care and compassion they provided Margarita “Maggie” for the remainder of her life.
Visitation will take place at Corpus Christi Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m., on Monday, July 2, 2018, with a burial to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
