Margarita Alvarez

Margarita “Maggie” Alvarez, age 70, passed away March 25, 2020. She was born on October 4, 1949 to Tomas and Maria Lopez. She was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from West Oso High School in 1968. She married her husband of 48 years on June 12, 1971. Maggie was employed by West Oso I.S.D. Maggie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.
Maggie enjoyed attending any and all Miller Buccaneer activities. She was an avid Miller Buccaneer and Dallas Cowboy fan. She will always be remembered for her service in the community. She was a devout Catholic and served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was also very devoted to her family; supporting them in all they did.
Maggie is preceded in death by her son, Manuel C. Alvarez, III (Memito), her parents, Tomas and Maria Lopez, brothers, Tomas Jr., Julian, Hector and her sister, Angelita Reyes.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her husband, Manuel C. Alvarez, Jr., son, Juan M. (Yvette) Alvarez, Sr., daughter, Belinda Alvarez, grandsons, Juan “JJ” M. (Victoria) Alvarez, Jr., Jonathon “Jonny” Alvarez, great-granddaughter, Sofia Rose Alvarez, sister, Connie Lopez of San Antonio, Texas and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home; a Rosary will be recited at 11:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m. that same day. Interment to follow at 1:00 pm at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers are Juan “JJ” M. Alvarez, Jr., Julian Lopez, Jr., Felix A. Linan, Jr., Martin Huerta, Rey Montelongo, David Pena, Christopher R. Navarro and Albert Montelongo. Honorary pallbearers are Jonathon Alvarez and Aiden Rey Zuniga.
