Marcela Balboa

Marcela Balboa “Ma Grande”, age 86, passed away on June 9, 2022. Marcela was born January 31, 1936 to Augustine, Sr. and Elvira Balboa. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1954. She worked for HEB from 1960 through 1970 and for Circle K from 1971 through 1973. She also worked as a Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed watching football and baseball, especially her “Dallas Cowboys”. Ma Grande loved to celebrate her birthday on Super Bowl Sunday’s. She also loved smoking her Salem 100’s.

Ma Grande is preceded in death by her parents, sisters: Maria Rodriguez, Beatrice Hendricks; brother, Nicolas (+Petra) Balboa, son, David Grande, Sr. and grandson, Abel Grande.

Ma Grande is survived by her daughter, Diana Grande (Jesse), son, Daniel Grande, Sr. (Soveida), grandchildren that she raised as her own, Gabriel (Leticia) Grande, Jessica (Jerold), David Grande, Jr., great grandson she raised as her own, Gabriel Jr. (Analisa), her brothers: Augustine Balboa, Jr. and Frank Balboa, grandchildren: Michael Jr., Marcie (Josh), Anna (Eric), Daniel III; great grandchildren: Gabriella (Avery), Ulyssa (Edward), Xavier (Vae), Alex Jr. (Kimberly), Miranda, Jordan, Robert, Miranda (Blair), Anthony, Raul, Victoria, Kyle, Elisa, Noah, Nathan and Kalani; great great grandchildren: Jazlynn, Avery, Jayce, X’Zavrel, Alexander, James, Adan Jr. and Caleb. Ma Grande also had a special bond with her niece, Mary “Maha” Pivonka.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, June 20, 2022 at The Lord is Peace Worship Center (4730 Kostoryz Rd.) with a prayer service to be held at 7:00 PM that same evening. Funeral service will be held at 10AM, Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at the Lord is Peace Worship Center. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.

Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Gabriel Grande, Jr., Joel Perez, Gabriella Grande, Jerold Belyeu, Jr., Alex Ybanez, Jr., and Xavier Ybanez. Honorary pallbearer is Gabriel Grande, Sr.
