Obituary
Manuel R. Olivarez, Jr., left this world peacefully on December 12, 2018 after 71 years and a lengthy illness.
He was a United States Marine Corps Veteran, a carpenter by trade, and retiree of the City of Corpus Christi Aviation Department. Manuel and Alma Olivarez were married in 1969, shared two beautiful children together, spoiled and adored their grandchildren until her illness delivered her angel wings in 2013. Manuel became a great-grandfather in 2015 and married Rosie Nava, whom stood steadfast by his side throughout his illness and the remainder of his life.
He leaves to cherish memories, his wife Rosie Nava, daughter Kimberly Rodriguez, son Manuel Olivarez, III (Trey), daughter in law PaulaKay Olivarez, grandchildren Paul Andrew Rodriguez, Rene Rodriguez, Amberly Rene Rodriguez, Tyler James Olivarez, Jace Ryan Garcia, great grandchild Layla Lee Rodriguez, sisters Lilly Olivarez-Saenz, Alma Estela Olivarez, Norma Olivarez and brother, Omar Olivarez.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel and Virginia Olivarez, Sr., and his first wife of 44 years, Alma Olivarez.
He was an avid golfer, loved to travel and will always be remembered by his quick wittedness mixed with a cold one.
Visitation will be be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin Blvd., Corpus Christi, Texas, 78405 with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 2509 Nogales St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78405.
Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, 2731 Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.
A Family gathering following the burial will be held at the Corpus Christi Professional Firefighters Association located at 6014 Ayers St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78415.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Manuel’s name to the Coastal Bend Food Bank, 826 Krill St., Corpus Christi, Texas 78408.
