Manuel Arias, age 79, passed away on May 11, 2022. Manuel was born on June 17, 1942 to Elias and Agustina Arias. He graduated from W.B. Ray High School in 1961. Manuel retired from Koch Oil and Refining. He loved fishing, football, volleyball, hunting, and barbecuing with family and friends. About fishing and hunting, Manuel loved telling stories that had “some element of truth.” He will always be remembered for his selflessness. He always put his children’s interests and needs ahead of his own. Manuel always put a smile on people’s faces around him, no matter where he was or what he was doing. He was ingrained with good morals and values and really cared for the people who cared about him and his family. Manuel was a loving father, son, brother, and uncle. He often emphasized the importance of family life and the support he had for his family was unwavering. Manuel is preceded in death by Grace Vela Arias, the mother of his children, and his second spouse Paula Reyes Arias. His parents Elias and Agustina Arias; brothers Benjamin Arias and Jose Luis Arias; sisters Feliciana Ludi and Guadalupe Mendoza. Manuel is survived by his children: Ruben Arias, Judy (Richard) Martinez, Sandra (Leo) Silvas, Michelle Arias, and Elias (Becky) Arias, fourteen grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, sister Victoria (Manuel) Villarreal, twenty-seven nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2022 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park. Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers are Rick Velasquez, Manuel Antonio Arias, Christopher Paul Martinez, Danny Mendoza, Alfred Gerard Vela, and Joe Arias. Special Thank You: Heartfelt gratitude goes out to Elva Fuentes for leading the Rosary/Prayer/Service. Family and friends, thank you for your sympathy during out time of loss. Your kind words are of great comfort to us as we try to come to terms with our father’s death.
