Manuel S. Abarca went to his eternal home on June 17, 2019. He was born in Corpus Christi, TX on August 3, 1943 to the late Raquel and Manuel Abarca. He was a lifelong member of the Corpus Christi Cathedral where he went to grade school - preschool through eigth grade. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alonso Abarca.
He graduated from W.B. Ray High School and earned his bachelors and Master’s degrees from Texas A&I (A&M) in Kingsville where he was a member of APO fraternity. He went on to work for Lever Brothers in Indiana as a chemist and later taught biology and chemistry at King High School in Corpus Christi. He later became a real estate broker and owned his own real estate company. He was also an accomplished artist, who studied art in New York and whose art hung in local banks and restaurants.
Manuel is survived by three sons, Keith Abarca of Sacramento, CA; Kyle (Jessica) Abarca of Dana Point, CA; and Kirk (Christy) Abarca of Lubbock, TX; six grandchildren, Zoe and Kai of Dana Point, CA and Trinity, AvaGrace, Elijah, and Jeremiah of Lubbock. He is also survived by one brother Ramon (Ruby) Abarca and a host of nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass was held at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church Chapel, 9821 Frankford Ave., Lubbock, TX on Monday, June 24, 2019.
Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2019 at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Corpus Christi, Texas..
