Lorenzo Portales

Lorenzo Ortiz Portales, age 91, passed away on September 3, 2021. He was born on September 5, 1929 to Bartola Ortiz Portales & Pedro Portales. Lorenzo was employed by Corpus Christi City Sanitation Department. He enjoyed congregating with his church, gardening in his home with family and staying active with anything having to do with the outdoors. He will always be remembered primarily as a man of faith that dedicated his service and time to the Jehovah’s Witness congregation and spreading God’s word in his local community. Our father enjoyed reading his daily bible scriptures and always tried to spread the word to his family. He was a determined, devoted father and husband that always wanted more for his family and regardless of the struggles in life, he and our mother always made sure we were loved. We will hold the memories that he always loved to keep busy, forever moving about the house, working with his hands, taking walks and remembering his love for shopping and trading at the local flea markets. His morals and principles will stay with his remaining family to be passed on to their children. We will remember our father with a final scripture that resembled him very well: Psalm 90:17 “Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish the work of hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” As a remembrance, that anything we do without God’s initial blessing is meaningless and we must remember to do everything in the eyes of our Lord. Lorenzo was a loving brother, father and grandfather.

Lorenzo is preceded in death by his loving parents, his brothers, sisters, and his loving wife Maria De Los Angeles Vigil Portales.

Lorenzo is survived by his children: Jesus C. Portales “Margarita”, Maria Guadalupe Montalvo “Lauro”, Anna M. McDonald, Adelaida Villarreal “Emigdio”, Rosa P. Cavazos “Ramon”; Angel V. Portales “LouAnn”, Erlinda V. Schommer “Timothy”, grandchildren: Heather M. Poncedeleon, Jessica E. Portales, Clarissa T. Portales,Patricia L. Molina, Angie Barrera, Laurie L. Lopez,Lauro Montalvo III, Mariah C. P. McDonald, Robert S. McDonald Jr., Ramiro Villarreal Jr., Lorenzo P. Villarreal, Victor L. Villarreal, Anthony Cavazos, Tiffany Cavazos, , Laura Cavazos, Joseph Cavazos, Andrew Cavazos, Isaiah Cavazos, R.J. Rodriguez, Estevan Portales, Zariah L. Lopez, Ethan S. Schommer, brothers and sisters, Anita Sanchez, Pedro Portales and Maria C. Ortiz.

Visitations will be held from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on September 15, 2021, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. The service will be held the same day from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. The burial will proceed at Memory Gardens at 3:00 pm.
