Karen Lee Free

Karen Lee Presson Free, age 63, of Corpus Christi passed away on Sunday, September 26, 2021 after a
brief illness. Karen was born in Abilene, Texas and moved to Corpus Christi in 1966. She graduated from Carroll High School in 1976 and attended Del-Mar Junior College. She worked at various restaurants and in the office for AAA Auto Club and Gardendale Baptist Church Pre School. Karen’s passion in life was caring for small children. She ran Karen’s Child Care out of her home for over 35 years, caring for generations of children. Karen was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church and an active member in the Corpus Christi Day Home Association. Karen loved music and she attended many Christian music concerts with her son Brandon.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and Glendon Presson.

Left to cherish her memories are her husband, Derrel Free; her sons, Brandon Free, Jeffrey Reed (Anne Corey) and Tommy Reed; her sister, Melinda Hord (Robert); 5 grandchildren; 2 nieces; 1 nephew and numerous cousins.

Karen is also survived by her best friend and caregiver, Marinda Neimeier.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Seaside Reid Chapel with a Funeral Service to be held at 7:00 p.m. that same evening at First United Methodist Church on Shoreline.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at Seaside Memorial Park, in the Field of Valor Section across from Selena.

Donations may be made in Karen’s name to First United Methodist Church Corpus Christi Scholarship Fund.
