Obituary
Judy West Thurman, age 59, passed away November 22, 2018. She was born on February 7th, 1959 to Ronnie and Jarlath West in Corpus Christi. She was raised in Corpus Christi and graduated from Ray High School in 1977. She attended Del Mar College and graduated in 1984 with her Associates in Nursing. She further continued her education and obtained her Masters Degree in Nursing from Texas A&M Corpus Christi in 2006. Not happy with just one Master's Degree, Judy obtained a second Master's Degree and became a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
She married the love of her life, Ray Thurman, in August 1978. They were married for 40 years.
Judy worked her entire adult life in the Nursing Field. First she worked in the Labor and Delivery Unit at a local hospital for 10 years, and then she ran a Home Health Agency, after that she went into Nurse Consulting in the Legal Field, then moved onto Hospice Evaluating, and finally ended up being a Psychiatric Evaluator via tele-medicine. She was always in the nursing field in some way. She always had a strong desire to try to help people.
Judy was a loving mother to Adam Thurman, Ryan Thurman and Rachel Thurman.
She enjoyed giving back to her community by volunteering at the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Corpus Christi, Metro Ministries of Corpus Christi, and the HEB Feast of Sharing Event.
She will always be remembered for her love of family, her generosity, and her loving/nurturing ways.
Judy is preceded in death by her father Ronnie West, sisters Janet McCampbell and Jeannette West Keeney, son Aaron Thurman, and daughter Rachel Thurman.
Judy is survived by her husband Ray Elbridge Thurman; sons Adam Elbridge Thurman (wife: Rachel) and Ryan Elbridge Thurman (wife: Celina); three granddaughters Leilani, Raegan and Madelyn; mother Jarlath Hoffman (husband: Bill); brothers Ron West and Richard West and numerous other family members.
A Funeral Service will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on November 30th at Seaside Reid Chapel. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society of Corpus Christi or Metro Ministries.
