Juanita C Hinojosa

   Juanita Cardona Hinojosa, age 95, passed on January 10, 2022. Juanita was born on March 05, 1926 to Hermenergildo Cardona and Teofila Morales. She spent her childhood in San Diego, Texas before moving to Alice, Texas where she spent most of her adult life. For a short time, she lived in Banquete, Texas before settling down in Corpus Christi, Texas where she resided until her passing. 

Juanita enjoyed spending time in her kitchen cooking and baking. You were guaranteed a meal as soon as you walked through the front door. She always had music playing throughout the house no matter what she was doing. Her love for gardening was extraordinary. She grew Texas size watermelons on the side of her house, along with a multitude of spices and herbs in the backyard that were used for cooking, teas, and medicinal remedies. She was known for bartering whatever she grew with the neighbors for fresh grown peppers, eggs and other goods. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time and playing games with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved sharing stories and was a jokester to say the least. Her youthful spirit was apparent, even in her final moments.

Juanita is preceded in death by her husband Gregorio T. Hinojosa, her parents Hermenegildo Cardona and Teofila Morales, her sisters Elena Rodriguez, and Manuella (Meme) Ramirez, and brothers, Juan Cardona, Jose Cardona, and Jacinto Cardona.

Continuing to celebrate her life, she leaves behind her children Richard (Elma) Rodriguez, Delia Lily (Oscar Jr.) Ortiz, Henry (Marta) Hinojosa, Robert (Mary) Hinojosa, Dalia (Fito) Perez and Nelda (Jared) Rodriguez, and her grandchildren Margo Ayers, Maribel Perez, Melissa Rubalcaba, Nora-Linda Rea, Oscar Ortiz III, Teresa Moore, Thelma Barker, Robert (Boogie) Hinojosa, Marcos Perez, Kaela Gutierrez, and Matthew Perez, and her great grandchildren Mark Hinojosa, Jimmy Rouse, Stephanie Ortiz, Brandon Louise, Nicholas Sendejo, Brendon Ayers, Bailey Ayers, Joshua Ortiz, Kaitlin Rea, Aiden Rodriguez, Alyson Gonzales, Logan Moore, Seth Rubalcaba, Alexis Ortiz, Alana Rodriguez, Ethan Rubalcaba, Caidyn Wimberley, Malachi Gutierrez, Matthew J. Perez and Maya Perez with an abundance of other family and friends that loved and cherished her deeply.

Services for Juanita C. Hinojosa will be held at Seaside Funeral Home in the Reid Chapel on January 22, 2022 at 1:00pm for all who wish to attend.
