Josefa Gonzalez Rodela

Josefa Gonzalez Rodela, age 86, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on July 12, 2021. Josefa was born on July 28, 1934 to Emilio Rodela Sr. and Tomasita Gonzalez in El Potrero, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was employed by La Monita Tortilleria and later with El Ranchero Tortilla Factory. She enjoyed playing the lottery, especially scratch offs, playing Loteria and enjoyed barbequing. She will always be remembered for her devotion to family, her good home cooking, making tamales for Christmas, her love for Cheetos, and always wanting to be surrounded by her “ijitos”. Josefa was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Josefa is preceded in death by her mother, Tomasita Rodela, father, Emilio Rodela Sr., brother-in-laws, Guadalupe Villarreal and Angel Hernandez.
Josefa is survived by her son, Jose Luis (Juanita) Rodela, grandsons, Jose Luis Rodela Jr. and Rigoberto Luis Rodela, 1 brother, Emilio Rodela Jr. (Maria), 3 sisters, Consuelo Rodela, Josephine R. Hernandez and Enoelia R. Villarreal, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 18, 2021 with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m., that same evening at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 19, 2021 at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers are Rigoberto “Rigo” Rodela, Jose Luis “BJ” Rodela Jr., Michael Hernandez, Robert Villarreal, Emilio Rodela III and Joseph A. Salazar. Honorary pallbearer will be her nephew, Estevan Rodela and niece, Laura L. Rodela.
