It is with great sadness that the family of Jose David Moya announce his passing on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the age of 67.
He was born to Maria Moya Fernandez on July 6,1956, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the eldest of five children to his mother, Maria, and his step-father, Jose Roman Fernandez Sr. He is preceded in death by his son, Joseph David Moya, Joseph’s mother, Mary Lou Cantu, his grandson, Christopher Michael Ledesma, and his step-father, Jose Roman Fernandez Sr.
He is survived by his loving mother, Maria Moya Fernandez, his daughters, Amanda Kay Gutierrez (Paul) and Jamey Lynn Cantu (Valerie), his son, Jonathan Paul Moya, his sisters, Elizabeth Figueroa (Reinaldo), Irene Serment (Edward), Yvonne Escochea, and his brother, Jose Roman Fernandez, Jr. (Lydia). He also leaves behind five grandchildren, one great grandchild, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Jose was a Harley Davidson clothing enthusiast and an avid pool player where he earned his nickname “Boom Boom.” He was a force to be reckoned with and a true advocate for being who you are, doing what you want, and speaking your mind at all times. Nonetheless, he could always make everyone laugh until they cried at times. His family and friends will miss him dearly but will always remember his stories and hilarious sense of humor.
