John Priest, a retired Corpus Christi police officer, avid modeler and photographer, and US Navy veteran, died Tuesday after a 3 year fight with cancer. He was 68.

John was a dedicated police officer and served for 25 years. He retired from active duty as a Sergeant in 1998 to pursue his passions – building model airplanes and ships and photographing Corpus Christi area wildlife. John also loved visiting with friends, new and old, over coffee and dining at new restaurants with his wife Sheri.
He is survived by his wife: Sheri, sister: Pam Priest, brother-in-laws, Wade Houze (Lucy) Johnny Gautreaux. Sons: Michael Priest and Robert Demaret (Priscilla). Daughters: Marion (Chris), Heather (Dawn) and Dena D. Mahan (Joshua). Grandchildren:Trevor, Emarie, Andrew, Hailey, Robert Demaret III, Liam Yong Demaret, Lucas Kai Demaret, and Emily Mahan. Many awesome nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.
Visitation will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home on Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 4 pm until 7 pm.
Funeral Service will be held at Corpus Christi Funeral Home on Monday, August 14, 2017 at 11:00 am followed by a 1:00 pm graveside service at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors.
