John G. Esparza, age 86, passed away on September 30, 2017 in Corpus Christi, Texas after a short battle with cancer.

John was born to the late, Fidel Esparza and Bertha Compton Esparza in Corpus Christi, Texas. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by brother, Robert Esparza.

At the age of 17, John joined the US Army and served during the Korean War as a medic. He worked at CCAD in the jig & fixture shop and retired in 1988. He was a member of the VFW Post 2397 and enjoyed spending time with family, especially coming together to share a delicious Sunday meal.

John is survived by his wife of 64 years, Maria Del Refugio (Cookie) F. Esparza; 7 Children, Robert (Imelda) Esparza, John Esparza, Jr., Michael (Joann) Esparza, Kathy (Oscar) Herrera, Mark Esparza, James (Annette) Esparza, Joseph (Emy) Esparza; 7 Grandchildren, Haydee (Ruben), Michael Jr; John III, Joshua, Erica (Michael), Brittany (Dylan), James Jr.; 11 Great Grandchildren; Brothers and Sisters, Richard Esparza, James Esparza, Alice Ayala, Yolanda Clark, Patricia Valdez; numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that evening.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. noon on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Entombment will follow at Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Michael Esparza, Mark Esparza, James Esparza, Joseph Esparza, Adam Franco, Robert Franco. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Esparza, John Esparza, Jr., Oscar F. Herrera, Jr., John Esparza III, Joshua Esparza, Michael Esparza, Jr.
