Jo Ann Hayes, age 68, passed away on November 17, 2020. Jo, known by her loved ones as Joda, was born on November 08, 1952 to Louis and Pearl Sanford. Alumni of Roy Miller High School, Jo Ann was a part of the 1971 graduating class. Serving the community for many years, Jo worked with Childcare Management Services from 1991 until the present via various contract agencies, with Baker Ripley being the most recent. Ms. Hayes has played an integral part in supporting many families and children of South Texas through her passion and dedication. In addition, Jo Ann loved her role at Sears Department Store, engaging with and encouraging every customer and coworker she had the pleasure of encountering.
Jo enjoyed listening to gospel music, encouraging others through the word of God, spending time with family, traveling, shopping, writing, and fascinating us all with her impeccable sense of style. Jo Ann will always be remembered for her love of the Lord, service to her community, quiet but impactful nature, devotion to her to family, for her classy demeanor, and genuine care for all those she loved. Jo Ann was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, niece, aunt, and cousin.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her parents; Louis and Pearl Sanford. Left behind to cherish her memories are her children; Nakisha Grant (Robert) and Jovonna Hayes, grandchildren; Robert Jr. and Kivonea Grant, siblings; Ada Davis and Evelyn Sanford, nephew, Derek Davis and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 23, 2020, followed by funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church, 1101 Waco St. Corpus Christi, Texas 78401. Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
