James Edward Lampkin (Tuxie) was born September 21, 1933 to the late James R. Lamkin Sr. and Lovie Chase. James accept Christ at an early age. He was formerly educated in Kingsville, Texas at Fedrick Douglass School. He joined the United States Army and fought in the Korean War as a Staff Sergeant. James also worked in the oil fields for many years. He retired from Frank Casing crew at the age of 70.
He is preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Lampkin and siblings Sonia M. Brown, James R. Lamkin Jr, Elroy Lamkin, Zonia ,Betty Robinson and his uncle Jesse Johnson.
He leaves behind to cherish his precious memories Brenda Curry-Best, Sean Kitchen, Carmen (Jack) Martin, Clifford (Debra) Cornell, Sonya Brooks and Valeria Cornell. His sisters Bobbie J. Williams, Doris L. Johnson, Willie Spencer and Joyce Levert. He also leaves 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He also leaves his special childhood friends Eric Smith, Gail Rhodes, Margie Houston, Henry Gaddis, Howard Brooks, Ted Shelton, Izra Nelson and CDell Hodge Jr.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M., Saturday, January 18, 2020 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a funeral service at 11:00 A.M. that same morning. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
