Isaiah Burgess

Isaiah “Zay” Marquis Burgess, age 25, passed away July 28, 2020. He was born on July 26, 1995 to Barbara Coleman and Wilbert Burgess in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was raised in Corpus Christi until 2006 when he and his family moved to Pflugerville, Texas. He graduated from Pflugerville High School in 2014. Isaiah was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. Isaiah enjoyed being around his family and taking things apart and rebuilding them. Isaiah truly lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures. He will always be remembered for his humor, will to helping others and most of all his smile.
Isaiah is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Oddley (Lula) Coleman, Paternal grandfather Wilbert (Sonny) Burgess Sr. and Godmother, Zera W. Lott-Wung.
Left to cherish his memories are his mother, Barbara Coleman Emokpaire (Nathaniel) Taylor, father Wilbert Edgar Burgess Jr., (Judy) Lavine, brother, Demitrius (Shaun) Givines, sister Keiana Coleman-Givines, God-sisters; Ziara Lott-Wung and Emily Earl, paternal grandparents; Stanley (Mary) Marsh, uncles; Robert (Melissa) Marsh, Oddley E. Coleman, Austin (Isabel) Coleman, Ray (Sylvia) Coleman, aunts; Myrtle Jewel Goodley, Elsie (Charles) Paterson and Chevon Marsh, step-mother; Linda Johnson, step-grandparents, Linda Johnson McGowen and Ronald McGowen.
He is also survived by his girlfriend, Sherrell Melvin, his best friend and cousin, Austin (Saint) Coleman Jr., along with his loving niece and nephew, several cousins and a host of friends.
Family visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2020 at Reid Chapel in Seaside Memorial, public visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. that same day.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Austin Coleman, Nathaniel Taylor, Demitrius Givines, Ray Coleman and Wilbert Burgess.
