MSG Guadalupe G Moya, USAFR Retired

Guadalupe G Moya, "Lupe" to his family and friends, passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2021,at the age of 76. Lupe was born on December 12, 1944 in Corpus Christi to Alejandro and Dora G. Moya.

US Army Basic Training placed him in Fort Chafee, Arkansas on April 11, 1962. In August 27, 1962 he was transferred to the HQ Co 555 Eng Gp Karlsruhe, Germany. He was a mail clerk and a Personnel Specialist During his tour in Germany he met and married his lovely wife Antonia Vincente. He completed his tour of duty in Europe, returned to the US in March of 1965. He was honorably discharged on April 10, 1965. After his discharge from active duty, he joined the US Army Reserve in Corpus Christi, TX. Shortly thereafter, he transferred to the US Air Force, 433rd Airlift Wing, Kelly Air Force Base, San Antonio, TX. He retired on December 6, 1999. His active duty tours were during the Viet NAM and Desert Storm era.

Lupe worked at the NAS Corpus Christi Texas first as a Fireman, then a Draftsman and an Electrical Inspector, He retired from Civil Service in December 1999.

He graduated from Texas A&M with a Master of Science Degree. With that he began a career as a Drug
& Alcohol Counselor. He worked at the Nueces County Jail Annex , the Right Program, at South Texas Substance Abuse, and Coastal Bend Outpatient Services. He was a friend of Bill W for 34 years and worked With and helped many in need.

He was a Master Mason and a life member of the Alamin Shrine Temple. He was a faithful COWBOY AND ASTRO fan.

He is survived by his wife Mary R Moya, children and step children, Jose Moya (Martha), Belen Elizondo (Tony), Luis Moya Sr.(Norma) Catherine Lutz (Richard), Lorretta De Corte (Mark), Stephen Falcon, David Falcon (Lucette), Margaret Ramos (Carlos) Phillip Falcon. Grand children, Joey, Miguel, Luis Jr (Amanda), Jennifer (Joe) Marissa (Isaac), Joshua (Savanna) , Iliana, Matthew, Alyssa, Emilee, Mikael, Nikolas, Benjamin, David Jr, Brigitt (Manda), Devin (Samantha), Andrew (Samantha), Jonathan (Nikki) Britanny (Jacob), Ashley, Phillip Jr, Christopher, 29 great grandchildren, Sisters, Ramona Ramos, Connie Love and Gloria Pauli, Brother, Ruben Benavidez, Aunt, Dolores Alaniz, Victoria Zapata. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Antonia Flores (Vicente Flores). He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a host of cousins who he cared for dearly. He held a special place in his heart for his Army buddies, Gary Gleason, Lupe Villarreal,deceased, Benjamin Rodriguez, Rogelio Villalba, deceased, Jim Barrajas, and Felix Villarreal.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Emilio Benavidez, Pedro Benavidez Jr, brothers in law, Siraco Ramos, Bill Love, Granddaughter, Krystal Moya, and Uncles, Armando Dawes, Alejandro Zapata.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary to be held at 7:00 P.M. that same evening. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 3, 2021at 12:30 P.M. at Holy Family Catholic Church with interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetary. Pallbearers will be Jose G. Moya Jr., Miguel Moya, Luis Moya Jr., Matthew Lutz, Christopher Falcon and Facundo Soto.
