Obituary

Guadalupe Esteban Rodriguez “El Esteve”, age 77, passed away on January 6, 2022. He was born November 13, 1944 to Refugio Amaro Rodriguez and Josefina Chavez Rodriguez. Guadalupe was employed by the C.C. Art Museum of South Texas, serving them as a custodian, security and in maintenance. He also worked as a custodian for C.C.I.S.D. Guadalupe enjoyed Spanish music, drinking with friends and family, going to eat taquitos and caldo de res at his favorite restaurant, “Taqueria El Alteno” on Ayers Street and eating fideo con carne at Gabriel’s Restaurant. He enjoyed going on rides with his son, Roberto Rodriguez in the Ram truck. He was also a hard-working man until 4 months before he passed away. He loved to go in his truck to pick up scrap metal and aluminum cans. He was not ashamed to work hard or do any kind of work. He will always be remembered for caring for all his family and friends. He was a person who would help anyone he could in the neighborhood. Guadalupe was a loving father, son, brother and cousin.
Guadalupe is preceded in death by his brother, Pedro C. Rodriguez, grandson, Michael Anthony R. Navarro, mother, Josefina C. Rodriguez, sister, Esther R. Cervantez, daughter, Angelica Maria Rodriguez, father, Refugio Amaro Rodriguez, uncle, Guadalupe Chavez, brother, Refugio C. Rodriguez, brother-in-law, Samuel Gomez, Sr., sister, Consuelo R. Gomez all of Corpus Christi, Tx., brother-in-law, Armando Leal, Sr., sister, Anna Maria R. Leal, both of Iowa, his long-time friend and companion for 25 years, Maria Hortencia Reyes of Corpus Christi, Tx. and his #1 sister-in-law, Elizabeth R. Rodriguez.
Guadalupe is survived by his daughter, Mary Esther R. Navarro of Woodward, Ok., Sons, Guadalupe E. Rodriguez, Jr. and Roberto Rodriguez both of Corpus Christi, Tx., brother and sister-in-law, Ernesto and Silvia R. Rodriguez, brother, Pedro C. Rodriguez, Sr. both of Corpus Christi, Tx., sister and brother-in-law, Lidia R. and Richard Montemayer, Sr. sister, Minerva R. Villela of Iowa, grandchildren, Alejandro Navarro, Tanya Navarro, Monica Navarro, Guadalupe E. Rodriguez, III, Darian Danielle Rodriguez, great grandchildren, Alejandro Navarro, Jr., Mark Sebastion N. Moreno, Mikayla Aurora N. Moreno, his favorite nephew, Richard Montemayer, Jr. his smart niece, Sophia Montemayer, Sammy Gomez, Jr., Consuelo “Connie” Gomez, Jose Antonio Gomez, Juan Angel Gomez and several other nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM that same evening. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are Alejandro Navarro, Jason Pereida, Jose Reyna, Raul Cedillo, Isidro Lopez and Elias Guartuche. Honorary pallbearers will be Refugio Rodriguez, Jr. +, Ernesto Rodriguez, Sr., Dixie “Dixieboy” Rodriguez and Scooby Doo Navarro.
