Gloria Garcia, beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, daughter, aunt, teacher, and friend in Christ has passed away at the age of 77 on November 1, 2021 as she was surrounded by loved ones. A beacon of faith and devotion she was born July 28, 1944 in Gregory, TX to Silvestre and Emilia Solis. The oldest of 11 and having survived Polio she, from an early age was a child of Christ. At the age of 15, she joined a convent in San Antonio. Even though her tenure there came to an end, her love and devotion to God never faltered. She went on to meet, fall in love with and eventually marry the love of her life Richard Garcia and they had two children.
Gloria was a woman of many talents; a leader, teacher, speaker, journalist, business owner and graduate of Del Mar College. In front of a crowd or a class was where she thrived and shined the most. Whether speaking about business or her love of all things related Christ and the church, she was never at a loss of words. Multiple generations of children of all ages were students of hers in CCD, confirmation and quinceara classes. She also loved to be involved in bible studies, prayer groups and religious radio broadcasts.
Gloria is preceded in death by her father Silvestre Solis, loving husband Richard Garcia, nephew Benjamin Perez and niece Lyz Perez.
Gloria is survived by her mother Emilia Solis, sisters Minnie Lanham,Yolanda Moreno, Sylvia Ochoa, Marylou Cantu, Emily Solis Domniguez, brothers Ernesto Solis, Sylvester Solis, Abel Solis, Lino Solis, Noe Solis, her children Raquel Garcia and Vincent Garcia, grandchildren Damien, Paris, Antonio, Hunter, Joshua, Jordan, Jasper, Jewel and great grandchildren Madison, Dakota, Elijah and Wynona and so many loving nieces and nephews that quite frankly the newspaper isnt big enough to list them all.

Even though she was in a wheelchair, her arms were always open, her voice was always soothing, her ears were always listening, her smile was always shining and her heart was always loving. Her legacy of loving the Holy Father will be eternal. It will live one through her teachings and wisdom, which will be passed on in the generations to come.
Mom, that wheelchair no longer bounds you. The gates of heaven have opened for you and its more glorious than you could have ever imagined. You are by His side. The clouds are at your feet and the wind and stars are in your hair. The sun and the moon revolve around you and Dad as you slow dance once again as you stare into each other’s eyes for eternity. Midnight (our dog) is wagging his tail as you scratch his belly and call him ugly animal. Thank you mom. Thank you for...everything. We love you. Rest in peace. Amen.
