Obituary

   Genevive Williams Green; a resident of Fort Wort, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, March 21, 2021 at 10:35am at the residence of her daughter and caregiver Jill Mandy Hollins, in whose care she was in at the time of her transition. Genevive was a life-long resident of Corpus Christi, Texas.
   Genevive was born January 30, 1930, in Morgan City, La; on Mount Street, where she grew up with her parents and three siblings. Genevive married the love of her life “Honey” as she lovingly called him the late Rev. Charles Lee Green, Sr. She had an insatiable desire to serve God. Genevive sang in the choir, and often lead songs as a lead soloist. She had a beautiful soprano voice, with a high vocal range.
   She was very active in the church. She taught vacation bible school, beautification committee, she was a member of Ladies of Camellia Debutante Mothers Club, she was also a member of a female gospel quartet also served as an usher. Genevive loved serving and cooking in the church kitchen. She spent her days being a homemaker. Genevive love to cut the lawn, plant flowers; she could grow anything. She often said, “I have a green thumb”. Her most important roles were serving God, being a wife, mother and grandmother. She was full of wisdom and often shared it with others. Genevive was an excellent cook, and she made sure that her children and grandchildren knew how to cook as well. She loved shopping and was always well-dressed. Her favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys.
   Genevive is survived by her children; Pamela Washington, Yvonne (Kirk) Vinning of Patterson, La; Spencer (Veronica) Colbert, Walter Colbert of Carencro, La, Annette (Errol) Allen of Houston, Tx, Carolyn Hall of Portland, Oregon; Jill Mandy (Quin) Hollins of Fort Wort, Tx; Julie Lynn (John) Whitmill of Corpus Christi, Tx; Felicia Michelle (Manuel) Ruiz of San Antonio, Tx; Tammy Genevive (Otis) McKinney of Pensacola, Fl. Genevive took great pride in rising six of her grandchildren; Suzette Tabitha Green of Corpus Christi, Tx, Ereka Green of San Antonio, Tx; Joshua Charles Green of San Diego, Ca; Jovan Delco of Corpus Christi, Tx; Ambrosia Alexis Barrera of Fort Wort, Tx; Peter Barrera of New Jersey, one sister Yvonne (Paul) Wilson, Sr of Morgan City, La. And a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
   Genevive was preceded in death by her husband Rev, Charles Lee Green, Sr; her parents James and Mandy Coleman Williams Sr; two sons Delmas Calvin Green, Sr and Charles Lee Green, Jr; a daughter Renee Kelly Green; her brother James (Florence) Williams, Jr; her baby sister Birdie Henrietta (Cornelius) Mills, Sr.
A wake will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, April 2, 2021 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78405. A funeral service will be held on Saturday April 3, 2021 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 4726 Friendship Dr Corpus Christi, TX 78416 interment to follow at Rosehill Memorial Park, 2731 Comanche St. Corpus Christi, TX 78408.
Having the distinguished honor of serving as active pallbearers are Quinn Hollins, Joshua Green, John Whitmill, Ladaniel Marshall, Johnny Whitmill, Chantze Avery and Michael Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Spencer Colbert, Otis Mckinny, Walter Colbert, Kirk Vining, Errol Allen, Manuel Ruiz Sr., Manuel Ruiz Jr. and Jovan Delco.
