Gail Dement

October 2, 1945 ~ July 31, 2021 (age 75) 75 Years Old

Obituary

Gail was born on October 2,1945 a daughter to Charles & Mary Leola Dement in Corpus Christi, Texas.
She worked at Olgas Hair Salon, in San Antonio, Texas as a Cosmetologist for 30 years. She previously worked at another salon on the south side. Olga Hightower, owner of Olgas Hair Salon went to the salon that Gail was working to look at properties when she discovered Gail and stole her from that salon. Olga found her an apartment across the street from North Star Mall. She ended her cosmetology career at Olgas Hair Salon only because the salon closed in January 2004.
Her coworkers at Olgas Hair Salon loved that she made them feel special for their birthday. She would get them a birthday card, have all the coworkers sign it & order a cake for them. She made every employee & coworkers feel welcomed.
Even though she did not have any biological children she adopted Aracelia (RC) as her god child in the summer of 1998 while working at Olga’s Hair Salon. Gail became the mother that she never had. Their mother daughter bond grew as the year passed by. Gail played a big part of her god-child’s successes in her life. Gail taught her many valuable lessons which included not giving up in the face of adversity. The many lessons she taught her shaped her into the women she is now.
She moved back to Corpus Christi, Texas in 2004 after her mother’s death & resided with Cheryl L. Hillery in her parents’ home.
She loved God and going to various Catholic churches in San Antonio. Her faith is what helped her face adversities due to health matters with her diabetes. When she moved to Corpus Christi her favorite church that she loved to attend was Holy Cross Catholic Church.
One of the biggest joys in her life was her family. She loved spending time with them. She became the family historian. She especially never forgot their birthdays. She would send them a card and call them.
Her wisdom, love, and faith that she shared to her family & friends was influential in guiding them through life’s turmoil’s. She had a loving & generous heart. She was always giving to others.
Her legacy that she left in the hearts of many will not ever be forgotten.

She is preceded in death by her Parents Charles Edward Dement & Mary Leola Dement, as well as two of her Nephews Marion DeForrest Obie Lewis Jr. & Elvin Dwight Hillery Jr. Survived by her beloved Siblings-Charlester Dement Lewis (O.D.
