In the early morning hours of July 17, 2020, Francisco Guevara entered the gates of Heaven at the age of 81. He was born December 3, 1938 in Bishop, Texas.
He was went by many names and titles, Francisco, Frank, Cisco, Pancho, Son, Brother, Husband, Friend, Dad, Grandpa, and Popo to name a few.
Throughout his lifetime, Frank has held many jobs, he served in the military during the Vietnam era and later became a business owner, in which he relished. He owned a mechanic shop, Frank’s Automotive Shop for years. After retirement, he spent years caring for his grandchildren until one day deciding to get back into the workforce and became a partner at H-E-B and then Academy. He enjoyed working until the time of his death partly because it gave him a purpose and he enjoyed socializing with people. He loved to listen to Spanish and Country music; some of his favorites were Ramon Ayala, Los Tigres del Norte, George Straight and Reba. He also enjoyed watching crime shows and sports.
Left to cherish his memories are his wife Cristina and sister Mary “Socorro” Yzaguirre, along with his children, Rose Marie Guevara-Garza (Frank), Lawrence Guevara, Francisco Guevara Jr., Dino Guevara, Frank Guevara, Jennifer Gonzalez (Jesse), Donicio Garcia, and Stephanie Morin (Ramiro).
His true joy was the time he spent with grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed celebrating their accomplishments, and attending their sporting events along with the quality time spent with them at home time. He held a special place in his heart for all of them; Riley, Matthew, Moriah “Bekah”, Joshua, Markie, Jordan, Don Rey, Zachary, Renesmee, JR, Araceli, Blake, Simon, Malaya, Marley, Caleb, Keegan, and Thomas.
Francisco will join his mother Rufina Puente, and father Crescencio Guevara in heaven. He will be reunited with his siblings, Elena Mena, Elvira Lugo, Gerardo Guevara, Alberto Guevara, Altagracia Garcia, Rosa Ovalle and Feliciana Vargas.
Francisco was an incomparable man, who lived life with kindness, compassion, and selflessness. He touched many lives in such an impactful way, that each person who came across him was better off with him in their life.
We are all deeply saddened to continue our life journey without him; however, we will continue to celebrate his. Francisco lived a long and joyous life, which we know he was fulfilled by. As we mourn his passing, we will remind ourselves of the promise that we will one day see him again. Until then we will hold him in our hearts until we can hold him in heaven.
A Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Seaside Reid Chapel. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Seaside Reid Chapel. Interment will follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
