Fidel Cerda

Fidel Cerda, 95, passed away March 2, 2018. He was born in Mission, Texas to Felipe and San Juana Cerda.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Maria Guadalupe Cerda, son Rene Javier Cerda, stepdaughters Gilma Jean Ramirez and Gilda Longoria Lopez, and numerous grandchildren.
Fidel served in the U.S. Navy and he worked at the NAS as a sheet metal worker for many years. He also worked at the courthouse as a bailiff until his retirement. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed by many. Fidel was a jack of all trades and he loved to Bar-B-Que. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan; according to him, he was their number one fan. But most of all, Fidel was known for the love he showed to his family and friends. He was always surrounded by his loving family and he will be missed.
Fidel is survived by Diana Cerda Colin (Hector), Sandra Cerda Trevino, Cora Cerda Garcia (Hector), Loretta Cerda Gomez (Julio).
Fidel Cerda has left behind many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Loretta Cerda Gomez (Julio), granddaughter Ariel Gonzalez (Patrick) for caring for him many years and Assist Home Health & Hospice especially Michelle & Cassie and his caretaker Gloria Cantu.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 7, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. – 9:00 P.M. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home with a Rosary recited at 7:00 P.M. the same evening.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Interment to follow at Seaside Memorial Park.
