Ernest Pleasant, 95, was born to Bennie and Henrietta White Pleasant on August 23, 1924 in Cuero, Texas and was the youngest of six children. He attended public school in Taft, Texas. He served in the United States Navy and in the Korean War. He was married to Alberta Pleasant Yancey for 32 years and one child was blessed to that union through adoption.
He worked at the Conoco Service Station for 54 years until his retirement; and was manager of the local laundry mat until his health began to fail. He was a long-time resident of Taft, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Rising Star Baptist Church in Taft, Texas.
He has been a resident of the Senior Care Nursing Home in Corpus Christi since 2014 and was called to his heavenly home on Friday evening, January 10, 2020.
He was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Linda (Floyd) Williams, Grandchildren, Farrin (Rachel) Williams and Fallory Williams, Great Granddaughters, Fayth and Faye Williams, Nephews, Morris Pleasant (Sharon), of Elk Grove, California, Charles (Gia) Pleasant of Pflugerville, Texas and Niece, Birda Jewel Garrett, and Great Nieces, Resa Garrett of Round Rock, Texas, Vickie Stevens of Compton, California and Regina Pleasant of Corpus Christi, Texas and a host of extended family.
Funeral services will be on Friday, January 17, 2020 11:30 a.m. at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin. Burial will follow at the Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Farrin Williams, Charles Pleasant, Harold Smith Jr., George LeFridge, Reverend Lewis Johnson and Deacon Prince Macon.
