Obituary

“For to me live is Christ, and to die is gain.” Philippians 1:21, Where he walked laughter, happiness, and love followed. Our Father in heaven called Joe Murrell to join him in paradise on January 16, 2022. He was born on March 21, 1954 to Henry and Mary Murrell. He graduated from Delta C-7 School in 1973. Joe was a truck driver by trade. He was a member of Waldron Road Baptist Church in Flour Bluff, Texas, where he enjoyed teaching, praying, and fellowship with his brothers and sisters in Christ. He lovingly and dutifully enjoyed doing the Lord’s work, spreading the Gospel, serving the lord, as well as playing basketball, watching old westerns, shooting firearms, and spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered for his faith and devotion to Christ, never at a loss of words when it came to witnessing. Family gatherings were nothing short of a three-ring circus, always up for making whatever room he found himself in a happier, better place. It would be wrongful to repay a debt of joy with currency of tears. So we’ll refer to this as a celebration, since he would be appalled to find himself the center of an unhappy occasion. Joe was a loving husband, father, son ,brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and lastly, friend.
Joe Murrell is preceded in death by his parents Henry and Mary Murrell, his brothers, JC, Dwight, Jimmy, Carroll, Michael and David; his sisters, Dot Taylor and Wilma McHost.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, of 44 years, Yolanda Murrell, children Roland (Cindy) Guerrero and Richard Murrell of Corpus Christi, TX, Sara (Amaira) Gallagher of Seattle, WA and of course, Aggie and Oreo, grandchildren, Michael Guerrero, Morgan (Leo) Ordaz, Matthew Guerrero and Alyssa Guerrero all of Corpus Christi, TX, and Chase Guerrero of San Antonio, TX, great-grandchildren, Lorenzo and Alonzo Ordaz of Corpus Christi, TX, brothers and sisters, Don Murrell Of Hayti, MO, Terry (Janet) Murrell of Cardwell, MO, Delores Reher of Hendersonville, NC, Kaye (Don) Neal of Madison, AL and numerous nieces and nephews.
