Daniel B. Machalick

Daniel Bernhard Machalick, age 56, passed away quietly at home on March 24, 2024. Dan was born on February 22, 1968, to Walter and Mercedes Machalick of Effort, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in Brodheadsville, Pennsylvania in 1986. He studied history and music at Penn State University and East Stroudsburg University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in 1996.

Dan had many jobs during his life in Pennsylvania, and then began his career as a teacher and coach in Corpus Christi in 2000. He touched the lives of students at Gregory-Portland High School, Incarnate Word High School, and Tuloso-Midway High School. He was nominated by the students and awarded Most Inspirational Teacher at Tuloso-Midway. He was also a compassionate nurse for many years.

Dan enjoyed talking about history, working in the yard, cooking, and having a cold one with family and friends. He enjoyed playing music of all kinds and could naturally play almost any instrument he picked up. Dan will always be remembered for his sense of humor, his kindness, and his willingness to help others.

Dan was a beloved partner to Venita Crow and a loving brother to his siblings Regina, Walter, Andrea, Philip, Gerard, Ursula, Matthew, Martin, and their families. “Papa Dan” adored his time with his stepson Cody and his wife Brittney and Grandpa time with grandkids Wyatt, Cooper, and Hollis Jo. He was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dan was preceded in death by his father Walter, mother Mercedes, and brother Dennis.

Visitation will be held from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday, March 29 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin Blvd, Corpus Christi, TX 78405, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am.

In Lieu of Flowers donations may be made to MD Anderson Leukemia Research Society and Lymphoma Center.
