Christopher “Chris” James Soto, age 75, passed away on May 11, 2022. He was born on November 27, 1946 to Pedro and Amparo Soto Escamilla. He graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1965. He was enlisted in the United States Navy from 1965-1969 and served in the Vietnam War. He was employed by Corpus Christi Army Depot and retired after 32 years in March 2015.
He will always be remembered for his devotion to his wife, Guadalupe, his children, grandchildren and his love for the Dallas Cowboys, UT Longhorns and buying lotto tickets.
Chris is preceded in death by his father, Pedro C. Escamilla, mother, Amparo Soto Escamilla and grandson, Armando “Mandito” Cantu IV.
His is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Guadalupe Posada Cantu, children, Christopher James (Christina Marie) Soto, Jr., Aaron (Monica) Cantu, Audra DeLeon, Armando (Vanessa) Cantu III, Annette Cantu, 17 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, sisters, Leticia E. Heyer and Yvonne (Danny…) Torres and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Coastal Bend State Veterans Cemetery, 9974 I-37, Corpus Christi, TX. 78410.
Having the distinguished honor to serve, as pallbearers are Aaron Cantu Jr, Adan Cantu, Albert Matthew Gonzalez, Christopher Torres, Kyle Heyer and Nicholas Torres. Honorary pallbearers are Aaron Cantu, Armando Cantu III, and Christopher James Soto, Jr.
