Cheryl Leanne Hillery

Cheryl Leanne Hillery, age 57, passed away January 1, 2022. She was born July 13, 1964, to Elvin Dwight Hillery, Sr. and Maxine Leon Hillery. She was baptized Catholic at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas in 1964. She graduated from Andress High School in 1982 and went on to attend Cornell University. Cheryl enjoyed making jewelry and helping others with their academic endeavors. She was a loving child of God, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin and friend.
Cheryl was known for having a loving warm personality. She had what would be described as a heart of gold. Her friends had the utmost admiration for her ability to freely give her time and attention to their needs. She seemed to be knowledgeable about life issues far beyond her chronological age. She had the ability to give sound advice to her family and friends when solicited. Cheryl’s family collectively believe that her brilliant mind and compassionate spirit will be a memorable contribution to the family legacy established by her grandparents Charles and Leola Dement.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her brother Elvin Dwight Hillery Jr., grandparents Charles and Leola Dement and her father Elvin Dwight Hillery Sr.
Cheryl is survived by her mother, Maxine Leon Hillery of El Paso, Tx., her brother, Brent Derek Hillery (Jalene) of Escondido, California, her sister, Shannon Claire Hillery of El Paso, Texas, and her nephews; Delonte and Desean Hillery of Escondido, CA., uncles and aunts; Charlester Lewis (O.D. Lewis), Edwina R. Thierry (Phillip Thierry), Gregory J. Dement, King Cornell Dement, Dr. Betty Antoinette Dement, and Mara Dement Priestley as well as a host of cousins and friends to include her devout cousin Vernell Helen Mosley and friends Aracelia and Jesus Guzman, Sabrina Castillo, and Peter Melve.
A Rosary Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home.
