Obituary

Carolina Lasconia Haats, age 72, peacefully went to sleep in death surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly at Bay Area Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas on January 11, 2020.  She was born on June 6, 1947 to Leonardo Lasconia and Felicidad Gomez in Merida, Leyte, Philippines.  She was raised in the Philippines and graduated from Central Luzon Institute of Technology in 1988.  She married the love of her life on June 15, 1973 and was married for almost 37 years until his untimely passing.

Carol was employed by Levi Strauss, Hagar Slacks, Luby's Cafeteria, Nang Praya, Chao Praya and the Naval Base Commissary in Korea. Along the way, she met her lifelong friends Sandy Carranza, Soledad Rust, Siony Murray and Norma Madden as well as many others.

Carol was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, mother-in-law, best friend and friend to all.

Carol was an avid gardener and enjoyed fishing very much. She loved to sing Karaoke and her favorite hangout was at the Charms Amusement Center.  She also enjoyed traveling to foreign countries with her late husband as well as traveling all over the United States riding on the back of his Harley.  She will always be remembered for her love of life and laughter - her favorite comedian was, "Fluffy", Gabriel Iglesias.  As well, she had an unending devotion to family and friends.  She was loved by all she encountered, even if for a brief moment.  She was admired for her tenacity and strong work ethic.  She was brave and independent.  She was a "fighter" even to the end.  Our dearly beloved Carol will always be in our hearts...until we meet again.

Carol is preceded in death by both her parents; her son, Wendel, from a previous marriage; her son Theodore Edwin Haats; and her husband, Gordon Edwin Haats.  She is survived by her two children from a previous marriage - daughter Aldelaine and son Alan as well as Aldelaine's children and grandchildren; her daughter Geraldine (Gigi) Haats Rodriguez and son-in-law Richard; her granddaughter Kyana N. Gallaher; her eldest grandson Xavier E. Gallaher; her youngest grandson Keith A. Haats; her eldest great-granddaugher Lorelei A. N. Burns; her youngest great-granddaughter Esmeralda L.
