April Maxine Jenkins, 65, passed away on September 16, 2022. April was born on April 1, 1957 to Samuel Jones and Nellie Solom Lindsey. She graduated from Roy Miller High School in 1975. April retired from the Naval Base of Ingleside Tx and went on to live an amazing life with her husband Karl Jenkins. She enjoyed spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She absolutely loved her scratch offs, baking, and cooking with her family in her pass time, and her two four legged children Peaches and Yong were her world. April Jenkins was a strong willed and independent woman who took care of and raised many of her family members since a young age and continued to carry all her family until her final days. She was the type of person that would offer you a place to sleep and a nice warm meal in your time of need.
She will always be remembered for her love of life, kindness, generosity and kitchen skills. One of the most memorable parts of her was her forgiving heart, laughter and the love she shared with all people she met. She was the light in our hearts and will continue to shine brightly and beloved for eternity. April was a loving mother, sister, aunt, and cousin to many. April is preceded in death by both parents Nellie Lindsey and Samuel Jones, her husband Karl Jenkins, brothers Malcom Griffin and Luther Lindsey Jr., and sisters Cheryl and Janet Lindsey.
April is survived by her children Tazama and Shamba Lindsey, grandchildren Keynen Lindsey (Mallery Macareno), Jaiquia Forney, Latyvia Forney, Jeniah Forney, Mariah Johnston, and Kane Lindsey. Great-grandchildren Kaleia and Zayvren Coleman and Jezeriah Lindsey and a host of nieces and nephews.
