Obituary

Antonio (Tony) De La Garza, age 54, passed away on May 8, 2022. Tony was born on May 5, 1968 to Juan Manuel De La Garza Sr. and San Juana Adame De La Garza. He graduated from W. B. Ray High School in 1987.
Tony was employed by CCAD for over 11 years. He loved his job and was a committed employee to the Blade Shop and to the area of Facilities. He was always ready and willing to learn and to get the job done. Some of his previous employers were Brand Scaffolding, Corpus Christi State School, Bay Ltd, Dynamic Industries (Offshore URSA Platform).
Tony was known for making friends and enjoying those friendships any where he went. His sense of humor and playing pranks were who he was. “Crazy Tony” will be tremendously missed.
Tony had a love for boxing and began training at seven years old. He was very proud of and raved about the trophies he won while he was in school. Tony’s passion for boxing, while training under Coach Davila, lead him to become Golden Gloves Champ in 1988. He then continued his boxing career professionally as “Tony the Tiger”.
On weekends there was nothing he enjoyed more than fishing with his best friend Rigo and loving fishing competitor Aleks.
He will always be remembered for his devotion to family. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, cousin and nephew.
Tony is preceded in death by his father, Juan Manuel De La Garza Sr., father-in-law, Heliodoro G. Sandoval, Maternal grandparents, Andres and Severa Adame; paternal grandparents Antonio and Manuela De La Garza.
Tony is survived by the love of his life, Cecilia Sandoval De La Garza of 25 years of marriage and only son Antonio Jesus De La Garza, Mother, Janie De La Garza, Brothers: Angel De La Garza (Corina); Joe Luis De La Garza and Juan Manuel Jr. De La Garza (Ashley). Mother-in-law, Idalia Sandoval, Sister-in-laws, Barbara Zepeda (Luis); Monica I. Loera (Anthony) and Brother-in-law Thomas Sandoval (Roxana), nieces and nephews: Louie, Christian and Sebastian Zepeda, John Ant and Maya Loera, Elia, Annalise and Isel Sandoval, Tino De La Garza, Joe Angel Moreno, Isaiah Castillo and Ava Rae De La Garza.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Corpus Christi Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Pilar Catholic Church on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. Interment to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Having the distinguished honor to serve as pallbearers are TJ De La Garza, Juan Manuel De La Garza Jr., Thomas Sandoval, Rigo Salazar, Louie Zepeda, Christian Zepeda, Tino De La Garza and Gilbert Flores. Honorary pallbearer will be John Ant Loera.
